May 26 -- Wicomico Post 64: 7 vs Princess Anne: 1
Troy Bennet
pitched a complete game allowing 4 hits and no earned runs while striking out 11 with 1 walk.   Jamie Meadows had 2 hits and Seth Illian had 2 RBIs on long fly balls.

May 30 -- Wicomico Post 64: 5 vs Dorchester Post 91: 5
With Tony Butler pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and Miles Illian completing the game, the Blue Sox won their first extra inning game.  Will Jones and Daniel Trivits combined with a walk and hit, respectively, to record the winning run.

May 31 -- Denton Post 29: 7 vs Wicomico Post 64: 5
Even with offensive power from Miles Illian, Seth Illian, Troy Bennett and Will Jones, Wicomco's five errors made a difference and resulted in the first loss of the season.  Daniel Trivits pitched a complete game striking out 3 batters.

May 31 -- Wicomico Post 64: 5 vs Denton Post 29: 4
Jake Ross
held Denton scoreless through 4 innings allowing 2 walks, 1 base hit with 3 strikeouts.  Ryan Taylor followed in relieft.  The Blue Sox had 8 hits with Tony Butler and Chris Bozman each having 2.  Troy Bennett had 2 RBIs with Andrew Dane, Butler and Ricky Hoffman each contributing 1 RBI.

June 4 -- Wicomico Post 64: 5 vs. Dorchester Post 91: 0
Troy Bennett, the 2009 Outstanding Bayside High School Pitcher of the Year, tossed a 1 hit shoutout with 8 strikeouts.  Seth Illian had 2 hits including a homeroun.
 
June 6 -- Wicomico Post 64: 14 vs. Frederick Post 11: 4
Matt Parrott lead Post 64's offense with 3 hits including 2 doubles and 4 RBIs.  Myles Illian contributed 3 RBIs. 
 
June 6 -- Frederick Post 11: 9 vs. Wicomico Post 64: 0
With the Blue Sox pitching allowing 7 hits and 8 walks plus no offensive punch, Post 64 suffered its first shutout of the year.

June 11 -- Wicomico Post 64: 14 vs Princess Anne: 13
The Blue Sox had 13 hits highlighted by Lucas Koenig's 3 run homerun and 2 RBIs each by Chris Bozman, Seth Illian and Will JonesRyan Taylor came in relief of Jake Ross in the bottom of the 6th inning with the bases loaded and blanked Princess Anne for the balance of the game. 

June 13 -- Stahl Post 35 (DE): 4 vs Wicomico Post 64: 2
With the score 4-2 in favor of Stahl Post 35 in the 7th inning, Post 64 had the bases loaded and no outs when lightning and rain terminated the game.  Daniel Trivits pitched 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits, no woaks and 7 Ks.

June 14 -- Mt. Airy Post 191: 10 vs Wicomico Post 64: 0
Mt. Airy's 10 hits, 7 earned runs and 2 walks yielded a "mercy rule" win for the host team.  This was the first no-hitter suffered by the Blue Sox in more than a decade.

Two hits each by Post 64's Tony Butler, Will Jones and Lucas Koenig were not enough to salvage a win for the Blue Sox.

June 16 -- Wicomico Post 64: 6 vs Princess Anne Post 94: 0
 
Ryan Taylor allowed 2 hits with 8 strikeouts and had a no-hitter going into the 6th inning.   The Blue Sox scored 4 runs in the 1st inning on 3 straight hits by Matt Parrott, Seth Illian and Tony Butler.   After Daniel Trivits fly ball to centerfield scoring Parrott, Lucas Koenig singled to drive in 2 runs with the 4th run scoring on a error.   The Blue Sox scored two more in the bottom of the 5th on four straight hits by Parrott, Seth Illian, Butler and Trivits. 
 
June 20 -- Wicomico Post 64: 12 vs Cecil Post 135: 0
 
Daniel Trivits tossed a 6 hitter with 4 Ks.  Seth Illian had 2 triples driving home 3 runs while Myles Illian, Chris Bozman, Tony Butler and Jake Ross each scored 2 runs for the Blue Sox.  Ross hit a 350' plus homerun to lead the offensive attack for Post 64.

June 27 -- Wicomico Post 64: 8 vs  Reading Post 934: 7
 
Myles Illian, Matt Parrott and Andrew Dane each had 2 RBIs.  Dane in relief of Ryan Taylor got the win allowing just 1 run and 2 hits in 5 innings. 
 
June 27 -- Reading Post 934: 17 vs Wicomico Post 64: 3
 
The single highlight of this victory for visiting team was a 2 run homer by Matt Parrott.

June 28 -- Wicomico Post 64: 7 vs Queen Anne/Kent Posts 18/36: 3
Blue Sox starter Daniel Trivits piched a complete game 3 hitter with 5 Ks.  Lucas Koenig and Will Jones each had 2 RBIs.
 
June 28 -- Wicomico Post 64: 7 vs Queen Anne/Kent Posts 18/36: 6
The Blue Sox came from behind in extra innings on Seth Illian's hit scoring Andrew DaneLucas Koenig blasted a 3 run homer and Tony Butler pitched all 8 innings with 10 Ks. 
 
 

June 30 -- Wicomico Post 64: 16 vs Princess Anne Post 94: 6
Ryan Taylor was the winning pitcher with a complete game giving up 8 hits and 6 Ks.  Myles Illian had 2 hits and 3 RBIs, Seth Illian had 4 RBIs with a grand slam, and Lucas Koenig was 3 for 3 with a solo homer.
 
July 1 -- Wicomico Post 64: 6 vs Tri-County Eagles Post 233: 1
Jake Ross tossed a 3-hitter with 9 Ks and 2 walks.  Daniel Trivits had a 2 RBI base hit.

July 2 -- Wicomico Post 64: 12 vs Tri-County Eagles Post 233: 9
Starting pitcher Andrew Dane threw 4 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits followed by Myles Illian for 1 and Seth Illian for 2 innings.  Blue Sox Seth Illian, Lucas Koenig and Chris Bozman each had 2 hits with Will Jones, Daniel Trivits and Matt Parrot (2 run home run) each driving in 2 runs.
 
July 4 -- Cecil City Post 135: 5 vs Wicomico Post 64: 4
Will Jones had 2 doubles driving in 2 runs with Lucas Koenig contributing 2 RBIs.

July 8 -- Queen Anne/Kent Posts 18/36: 6 vs Wicomico Post 64: 5 
Daniel Trivits provided the main Blue Sox offense with 2 RBIs.  Post 64 pitcher Jake Ross had 7 Ks allowing only 3 hits and 2 earned runs.
 
July 9 -- Wicomico Post 64: 15 vs Dorchester Post 91: 12
Daniel Trivits 3 RBIs with a triple and a single and Chris Bozman, Tony Butler and Ricky Hoffman each had 2 RBIs.   Andrew Dane, pitching in relief the last two innings, shutdown Dorchester on no hits and 3 k's to get the win.    
 
 
 

July 11 -- Wicomico Post 64: 14 vs Dorchester Post 91: 12
Myles Illian scored 4 runs on a walk, 3 hits and had 4 RBIs with a grand slam in the 4th inning.   A significant entry to the Post 64 Baseball Record Book occurred when catcher Chris Bozman blasted 3 back to back to back homeruns to account for 7 of the Blue Sox 14 runs.   Andrew Dane got the win allowing just one earned run over 4 innings.
 
July 11 -- Queen Anne/Kent Posts 18/36: 7 vs Wicomico Post 64: 4
Tony Butler had 2 of the Wicomico Post 64's 5 hits.  
 
July 12 -- Wicomico Post 64: 11 vs Cecil Post 135: 3
Jake Ross the first 4 innings limiting Post 135 to just 2 hits and 4runs (3 earned) with Tony Butler pitching the last 2 innings of shutout ball to preserve the win.   Matt Parrott had 3 hits and scored 3 times.   Lucas Koenig had 2 hits and 3 RBI's and Butler broke the game open with a 3-run homerun with 5 RBI's for the game.  

 
Eastern Shore District Playoffs
 
July 15 -- Wicomico Post 64: 4 vs Cecil Post 135: 1
Tony Butler limited Cecil County to 2 hits and faced only 25 batters, walking 1 with 2 K's.   Chris Bozman and Butler each had 2 RBIs and Butler was 3 for 3 at the plate.
 
July 16 -- Cecil Post 135: 19 vs Wicomico Post 64: 14
Will Jones had 3 of Post 64's 16 hits along with Tony Butler's 3 RBIs and Myles Illian's homerun.
 
July 17 -- Wicomico Post 64: 10 vs Cecil Post 135: 0
Daniel Trivits tossed a 1-hitter while Matt Parrot had a double and 2-run homerun driving in 4 runs for the Blue Sox.   Will Jones had 3 hits and 2 RBIs. 
 
July 19 -- Wicomico Post 64: 2 vs Queen Anne/Kent Posts 18/36: 1
Blue Sox hurler Tony Butler pitched a 3 hitter with 8 Ks allowing only 1 unearned run.  Lucas Koenig's base hit in the bottom of the 7th inning broke the 1-1 tie game to win it for Post 64. 
 
July 20 -- Wicomico Post 64: 7 vs Queen Anne/Kent Posts 18/36: 4
Daniel Trivits limited pitched a gem limiting Queen Anne/Kent Posts 18/36 to 2 runs, only 1 earned, on 7 hits,1 walk and recorded 7 K's.  Matt Parrott had a double with 2 RBI's and Tony Butler had 2 hits and 2 RBI's.
 


Maryland State Tournament
 
July 24 -- Wicomico Post 64: 8 vs LaPlata Post 82: 0
Tony Butler pictched a complete game giving up 6 hits with 8 Ks.  Ricky Hoffman had 3 hits and 2 RBIs.  Lucas Koenig added 3 hits and an RBI, and Miles Illian, Seth Illian, Matt Parrott and Andrew Dane each had 2 hits and an RBI.
 
July 26 -- Mt. Airy Post 191: 14 vs Wicomico Post 64: 11
The Blue Sox were leading Mt. Airy 10 to 5 when a severe thunderstorm stopped play in the bottom of the 8th inning.  The game was suspended with a 9 AM restart on Sunday.   Pitching over the two-day game was handled by Daniel Trivits, Jake Ross, Andrew Dane and Ryan Taylor. Wicomico had a chance to win the game taking an 11 to 10 lead in the top of the 9th inning on a base hit by Will Jones scoring Chris Bozman who had led off with a base hit and advanced to 2nd base on a groundout.   A Mt. Airy Grand Slam in the bottom half or the 10th inning decided the game.
 
July 26 -- Gaithersburg Post 295: 15 vs Wicomico Post 64: 2
With an injured hamstring from the previous game, Daniel Trivits pitched 4 and 2/3 innings allowing 15 runs on 13 hits before giving way to Ryan Taylor who pitched the final innings.   Blue Sox outfielder Andrew Dane had two hits.

Coach Kissner

The Blue Sox Team was hosted by its sponsor American Legion Post 64 for the 2009 Awards Banquet at the Legion building.  Team members, parents, friends, community members, Legionnaires and staff gathered to recognize the successful season of 26 wins and 14 losses.  Representing the Eastern Shore District League in the Maryland State Playoffs was the schedule highlight for the players, coaches and fans. 

 

Individual awards were presented by the Team Manager/Head Coach Gordy Kissner with each player's accomplishments being highlighted.  The first annual Walter Phipps Scholarship Award was given by Mr. Phipps to the most deserving player based upon on-the-field performance, scholarship, community and leadership contributions, and need criteria. 

 

Coach Kissner presented the league trophy to Mr. Edie Myers, Post Adjutant, together with the sincere appreciation of everyone present for his supportive role in the Post's sponsorship of the team.  All present were thanked for their contribution to the team throughout the season.  Click here for the individual awards.
